This is PayPal's payment gateway service, formally owned by VeriSign.
The cart supports a seamless integration for credit card processing with either Payflow Pro or Payflow Links. Simply enter the details about your PayFlow account in Admin, hit submit and do a test purchase through the cart. There are some additional notes below.
Please note: the cart is set to save all transactions sent to PayFlow for authorization. If an error occurs or the card is declined no emails are sent, the customer is simply asked try again. They may however choose to abandon the purchase. Uncompleted transactions are easy to spot in Admin if you use the Batch orders facility as they have no authorization code.
It is expected that you will audit your orders in the cart against payments you have received at PayFlow. Errors do occur at all gateways, payment processing is not a perfect world!
Setting up a Pro account is the most straight forward. Currently Vendor ID and Gateway/Login ID are always the same. In both cases they are exactly what you would enter as Login at:
https://manager.PayPal.com
A Pro integration also needs the password you would enter at that URL too.
Fraud screen
Don't attempt to use Fraud screen unless you have contracted to PayFlow to do so. It costs more money! Fraud screen returns a score between 0 and 999 indicating the chances of the transaction being fraudulent. The higher the number the more likely it will result in a chargeback. You enter a threshold, a number, in the cart setup and if Fraud screen returns a score over it then the customer will be told you will be in contact with them. No confirmation receipt is sent by the cart. So a certain amount of manual following up of orders is necessary.
The shopping cart connects to a Links account using a feature now undocumented by PayFlow called SILENTTRANS. PayFlow have told us that they are committed to maintaining it for backward compatibility. This is important as some PayFlow tech. support personnel are not familiar with the technique and it may confuse them if you ask for assistance.
In order for the connection to work the cart needs a completely empty setup in the Payflow Links setting at PayFlow. All the checkboxes should be unchecked, but see below, and all the text boxes should be empty. This is exactly as the account was when it was brand new. However you may enter whatever you like in the section relating to email receipts.
Recently PayFlow added some validation to the Links setup in their Admin area. It has become quite tricky to select the AVS and CVC validation options whilst still having the related fields unchecked. You may have to play around with it a bit, the main thing is to make sure nothing is required. It can still be done although it is annoying...
As with a Pro account, do a test purchase through the cart. It will either work or it won't, with these integrations there is no half way house. Changes you make in settings in Admin of the cart and at PayFlow take effect immediately.
The PayFlow gateway was formally called Signio, then Verisign. It is now owned by PayPal!
