I have been using Mals for years, but as NZ Post have changed their prices I am changing mine to match. I usually have the ratios in weights and in 1 kg increments. But that doesnt work now so need it to start in half kg steps.

    first 0.5 are charged 17.50
    next 0.5 are chraged 10.00
    next 1 are charged 20.00
    next 1 are charged 15.00
    next 1 are charged 15.00

However doing this only charges 13.75 for 1 kg ?
Shouldnt it be 27.50 for 1 kg ?
    Please help, losing sanity!

If you were using option 7 and the units=price box isn't checked then, yes, I'd expect 27.50 for 1 unit and 13.75 couldn't happen.

Which is the website with the problem?

    Hi Alan
I am using the advanced shipping calculator tables. So there is no option 7 I dont think.

I have selected "based on the total sum of units posted in with your products"

    Each unit represents 1kg

This applies to several sites as I am changing them all, but am testing www.nzsouvenirs.co.nz

I got it, never mind thanks all.

    first 0.5 are charged 35.00 (not 17.50)

then the charge to my customer is 17.50 works perfectly!

Phew got some work to do correcting all my ratios, but at least its accurate.

If you want the price to go up in steps a better alternative would be to change from the default

first 0.5 are charged 17.50 EACH
    to
first 0.5 are charged 17.50 THE BAND

The former is equivalent to standard shipping option 5, and the latter to option 7.

Using 'EACH' you don't get price steps but slopes. So anything that isn't a multiple of 0.5kg would not get rounded up to the next 0.5kg.

0.7 units (the fish pot stand) would be charged 19.50, not 27.50.

That may be a better way if your postal service charges are in price bands.

Thanks Alan yes you are right, however I do want the smooth price slope so that 0.7 is priced differently to 0.72.

Doing it this way does seem to work quite well for my needs.

It would be much easier if the price of half a kg was half the price of 1kg but our postal system is not like that eg 1kg $30.00 and half kg $17.50.
    ahh rotters.
