A customer just entered a gift voucher number and it shows as Redeemed, and shows on order, but it is not deducted from the total amount due.

Have you set an expiration date?

Having trouble with a form or need one building?
Fast turnaround, but I do charge :)

Mal's Forms / Scripts and the syntax are here.

Mal explained this once and to me it did not make much sense. He said something like a gift voucher is like a payment. It does not reduce the total price of the item. The reciept still says the full value but they would only PAY any difference. What showed up as the payment?

I can see his argument in that the TOTAL is what you have sold. If you were analysing orders you would want that, regardless of how it was paid.

The gift voucher is part of the subsequent payment and reduces the amount due.

I guess 'Voucher 0.00' is used for discount vouchers which would affect the order total. In that case analysis would use the net amount.

But as Debbie noted, the vital piece is what the customer actually paid.

I use QuickBooks Download manager and it transferred the "Total" into QuickBooks. I had to manually enter a discount in QB before processing the card manually or the customer would not have received the gift amount.

If I set an expiration date it would have been out 6 month or more and would have not triggered on this transaction.

I assume the customer receipt from Mal's shows no deduction so the customer thinks the voucher did them no good.

Maybe I missed something, but where is the advantage to the gift voucher function?

Maybe the best way to offer gift vouchers is to actually create a one time discount voucher instead? Ideas?
