Can someone point me to where it explains how to set up an array to calculate shipping charge by number of units ordered as in 'Option 4: Calculated by quantity from an array'.

What is an array, how do you write one and where does it go?

I'm new to this and I'm finding a distinct lack of explanation of how to do things. Is that normal? Am I missing something or do most people have some form of IT background that makes a lot of this self explanatory?

    See several Shipping articles

In this case the array is a two column table.

    UNITS COST
    3 ____ 4
    4 ____ 3.5
    10 ___ 2

    would mean (using option 4)

the first 3 items will be charged 4 each
the next 4 items would be charged 3.5 each
the next 10 items would be charged 2 each

    Thanks,

But this doesn't answer my question.

It's really important to understand that much of this is meaningless to me. I have never written a piece of code in my life. I thought that when I selected the radio button for option four in Shipping Charges, that this would display some vital piece of code and tell me where it goes, or better still a form, and all I would do is enter the values and that would be that. But that didn't happen so I'm clueless as what to do next.

The nub of the question is about how do I actually do it? I get the idea of setting some kind of parameters but obviously I wouldn't cut and past what you've displayed anywhere.

Do I create a table in HTML and paste it into my HTML? Surely not. Is there some database somewhere that I fill in?

So once again "What would this look like when written out to be included somewhere and where would it be put?

You've been to the place. After the choice of options on the shipping setup page, it says
    ---------
    SHIPPING ZONE TABLES

These tables or arrays, as they are sometimes called, are required for the shipping methods; 4, 5, 6 or 7
    ---------
and that's where you choose how many you want and specify the arrays.

    Thanks,

Suitably humbled. I'm not sure how I missed that.
