    Hi,
I have a cart that has been working well for years, but lately the customers have not been receiving order receipts. Are others having this problem?

Yep. It seems many internet providers are blocking them. It has gotten really bad this month. It use to be mainly AOL but now I think it is everyone by how many complaints I am getting. It is definately a PITA.

I'm going to tell all my clients that they need to go into the orders list and manually send a receipt to each customer.

Is this affecting order notifications too? My client wasn't receiving orders for a few days.

I just did a test order using the cart and I am not seeing the emailed receipt in my spam folder. Do you mean that the ISP rejects it before it gets to the spam folder?

Yes, That seems to be the case. Because of this problem, In April Mal added an option so you can set up the cart to use your own SMTP server for sending outgoing order notifications and customer receipts.

Using your own SMTP server would make your customer receipts more reliable. You can use your own domain name for the sending server instead of aitsafe.com or malsecom.com.

Setup for this is under email settings in admin.

It mentions using your own domain based email. Would this work for an email account like AOL? Would you use the settings that you use to set up an email account in a mail app like Outlook using the SMTP Out settings?
I have customers who only have AOL at this point.

AOL is not supported right now. Mal said... It just support basic SMTP authentication on port 25 but it might be possible to add other authentication methods and ports in the furture.
