I have maxed out the 6 positions for my home zone with ground and express options. I need at least one more home zone option, a zero cost shipping option.
Have tried adding other zones to give me additional home zone options but without success. I think Premium/Advanced/autofill UPS&USPS negates more zones other than home zone and worldwide.
How can I get more home zone shipping options that will show up in the cart?
And why are shipping zone options limited to 6 positions only?
    thank you.

I'd guess that the limit of 6 may not be a technical limit but one set to contain the amount of processing needed. Maybe ask Mal if there's a solution for you.

Thank you Alan and belatedly for your earlier helpful advice too. Sorry I didn't get back to you. Will drop Mal a note and see if limit of 6 is amendable.

Alternatively, is there an input type that would allow a fixed shipping cost in addition to the input type for cost of a product?
An order placement through the shopping cart would then have to turn off the 'add shipping' in the cart so no more shipping cost was added to the purchase.
Again, this is with Premium and using UPS / USPS auto ship rates.

I think you'd have to give a concrete example for me to be able to comment.

I am now looking at the Field no ship=1. Don't know how it works yet. Maybe that is a solution.
    Concrete example:
The Product A has a price of $100.00
The flat rate for shipping Product A is $30.00

I want the shopper to order either:
    1 Product A $100.00
    1 Shipping $30.00
    or
    combined 1 Product A $100 + Shipping $30.00 = $130
    "Add to cart"
In the cart then "add shipping" and see a shipping option selection to add of of $0.00 then go to Check Out
or after "Add to Cart" just go straight to Check Out link with no further shipping added.
Either way the Total charge is $130.00
    Hope that's clear.

noship is not available if using Advanced shipping.

Shipping charges are often based on the units total, and in this case a product with a units value of 0 will not affect the calculation.

You can make the product price 130 and the units value=0.

Thank you. Seemed TGTBTrue the noship.
That is where I am now "product price 130 and the units value=0"
but I need at least a 7th ship option in the Home zone so I can create a Zero ship cost option to avoid add-on shipping charges.

Some people are never satisfied:-) Ask Mal.

I'm running out of ideas but you could try this.

Define another zone - say Local pickup - with one option, a fixed charge of 0.

In Links to zones, specify Countries list and states list.

In the states list, first entry (No state) specify Local pickup.

You'd have to tell relevant customers to select 'No state' or go a bit futher and change the text to 'local pickup'.

:-) Believe me, not looking to make this any more complicated than it is. Just a couple of home zone options away from making it work.
Gave your last idea a try but could not make it work. Have explained the justifications for extra zone options to Mal and look forward to his take on it.
