Have searched forum on how to make a simple error message to a customer that has not selected a necessary option before adding to cart so they will be forced to make the selection. Can someone show how?

Already had a live chat and showed him my force a selection page.

Having trouble with a form or need one building?
Fast turnaround, but I do charge :)

Mal's Forms / Scripts and the syntax are here.

Per GT there is no simple error message solution, requires a java script.

I did find that this simple solution works to indicate a selection is required, although it doesn't stop passing to the cart. It does however put a large message in the cart that there was an error, a selection is required. Shopper can remove errored product from cart, "continue shopping" and make the correct selection, add to cart.
    Make it the first Option:
<OPTION VALUE="=error= You must select a XXXXX for this product."> Select a XXXXX
    Followed by your Options...
It's simple, specific to one product and the product's 'error' message can be varied right in the cart coding.
