    Hi all,

For the last 2 days all our orders paid for via PayPal are listed in red.

When we check our account all have been paid for but customers aren't getting order acknowledgement e mails from the cart.

Not sure what the technical phrase is but it looks like PayPal isn't telling the cart when the payment has been completed.

We use the standard PayPal set-up. Is anyone else having the same problem?

Would appreciate any replies one way or the other so we can judge whether its just us or it's a more widespread problem.

    Thanks in advance
    Ian

    Thanks for your reply.

Mal has since replied with the following:

PayPal have discontinued the "return" system which was used to send someone back to the cart after they had paid. You need to use the IPN instead, this is an option on the PayPal page in the cart setup:

"PayPal should make an IPN call to the cart to confirm when someone pays. Select this option if you want an order notification from the cart."

We've set this option and the e mail comes through to us and the customer ok plus the order list now shows the order as 'paid' correctly.

Downside is that after the payment is complete the customer no longer gets returned to the cart but is directed to the PayPal home page.

We have changed the option ipn in the cart page setup.
Now we wait if the solution is working.

At this moment the orders arrived but paypal is not redirecting the coustmer on the cart.

Is there anyone who has solved the problem?

    Hi,

    As I mentioned above:

'Downside is that after the payment is complete the customer no longer gets returned to the cart but is directed to the PayPal home page.'

Mal seemed to think that the PayPal 'thank you' page would suffice but we've already had regular customers e mail us to make sure the order went through, as they didn't see the usual thank you page.

One solution may be to use the option to return the customer to a 'Thank You' page on your website using the third option under 'Return link from PayPal' in the cart settings.
