The new forum makes it difficult to see what has gone before whilst penning a reply.

One way is to use the 'Aa' icon (formerly known as 'Quote') which is useful if not replying to the previous post, but only shows one previous post, and clogs up the forum unless it's deleted before completion.

I've tried right clicking on 'Post reply' and opening a new tab. This helps when diverted to log in - you can click on the first tab to get back to the job in hand. (Being put back there automatically is on Mals' request list). It also allows easy switching between the whole topic so far and the answer.

(Later P.S. the change to put one back after logging in has now been implemented)

    Has anyone other suggestions?

Mal mentioned that one can login using a bookmark or favorite in the form

Opening the post in a new window does seem to make it easier. Thanks. :)

    I've tried clicking on
    1. A bookmark for the My account login
    https://www.mals-e.com/login.php?user=xxxx&pass=yyyy

    2. then right clicking on a bookmark for the user forum and selecting open in a new tab
    https://www.mals-e.com/frm/forumList.php?id=2

Using that to select a post and if wanting to Reply right clicking on Reply and opening a new tab

Also set up is a third bookmark to login to an account to test settings
    https://www.mals-e.com/login.php?user=xxxx&pass=yyyy
again selecting open in a new tab

which keeps it as one set of Foxfire tabs. I imagine IE is similar.

I had pointed out this problem in an earlier post. Surely all this help to find ways around the problem are missing the point. Why is it like it? All other forums i go on are not and mals old one wasn't.

Ah I see 2 of the problems I mentioned previously have been fixed. The edit icon picture is showing now and new replies to topics got to the top of the list. Well done for getting them fixed so quickly. Just a few more to go before we get back to to where we were before.

Any chance of also actually getting separate forums for separate topics as has been requested on several occasions? This would mean this new system would actually be better than the old one rather than just 'prettier'
