We have a new cart and just received an order, paying by Pay Pal. The strange thing is this individual did NOT enter any shipping info. No name, street, address, nothing. Yet their payment went thru to Pay Pal, but no shipping charges since there was no address.

We cannot fathom HOW they got thru the cart without entering any address whatsoever. We have all that setup as 'required' information. Our Pay Pal receipt also says "John Doe has provided an unconfirmed address...."

Is this some sort of hacker perhaps?

PayPal puts shipping address under the billing address section if it is different. Not having a shipping address in the cart would not stop it from charging shipping. Sounds like you have something setup wrong in your shipping setup. Can we look at your page?

    Hi Debbie,

I can't see how the cart could charge shipping without the person entering their zip code. I can't see how this party completed their order without entering ANY of this important information. When I try, it keeps telling me to "go back and enter the information".

We cannot ship their purchase without their address!? It all seems kind of fishy.

What do you need in order to look at our setup? here is the new site:

    Thanks a bunch!

    Thanks Alan,

Will fix those items. I'm suspecting this might have something to do with our pay pal settings in the cart. We selected pay pal pro and had selected "suppress shipping address in pay pal" thinking this meant the Mal's cart collects info as usual, but the customer is not ask to re-enter the same address/info in Pay Pal??

Also, it wasn't clear to me whether when using pay pal pro, we have to do further setup in our Pay Pal account? I had submitted another question in this forum inquiring how to make the Pay Pal page more "shopper friendly". As it is now, when our customers land on Pay Pal, they do NOT see any mention of what they want to buy, but have a page saying, "create an account" , "login" etc etc. Can that page simply LIST their purchases, gather their CC info, and then a prominent SUBMIT button?

    Thanks again ---

If you are using PayPal Pro Customers are given 3 options.
    1) they can pay with PayPal Express which whisks them away to the PayPal screen where they have to sign in to pay.
    2) on the payment screen they can select PayPal as their payment method.
    3) They can select payment by Credit Card. If they select Payment by credit card they stay on the cart. They never even see PayPal it is all seamless.

You do have to set up PayPal Pro in Paypal setup tho.

In cart setup check the radio button that says "Website Payments Pro"
enter your paypal email address where it says "Paypal account ID"
Check the radio button by "Return the customer to the cart's Thank you page"

Setting up PayPal API access in PayPal
In order to use Express Checkout or Payments Pro package you must configure your PayPal account to allow the cart to have API access. This is what you need to do:

    Login to PayPal
    Go to: Profile
Go to: API Access > Grant API Premission
You need to add API permssion to
    API Account Name: paypal_api1.mals-e.com

and give the cart permission to use:

    SetExpressCheckout
    GetExpressCheckoutDetails
    DoExpressCheckoutPayment
    DoDirectPayment
Note it is a one, not the letter L, in paypal_api1.mals-e.com

    Thanks Debbie!

We did all these things (the API, etc). We still do NOT receive any shipping address information! When the email notifying us of an order arrives, it does NOT contain any info about the customer (no shipping at least). Very frustrating. Then if you log into Mals and view orders - the address is not there either - for most. I tried a "pretend" order myself, and went thru the entire process, even paying at Pay Pal and my address also does NOT show up in the email notification either, but DOES display when logging into Mals and viewing orders! (yet other orders do not display here either. What is going on?

    thanks!

Make sure you do not have the checkbox checked at the bottom of the page that says. "No shipping address at Paypal" Leave it unchecked.
