Hey all, I just noticed on server 6 that there are new options under pick up orders:
Does anyone know if there is anything else new I should know about?

    -Display this order
-Edit this order (this is new and a great idea!)
-Archive order (looks like we can archive orders now for 6 months)
-Email customer receipt (I hope the auto-email will stay in place!)

Just seen this on ww4 - not sure why you would want to edit an order.

The archive function is not that useful as you have to do each order separately - that takes a long time when you have 50+ a day

Email customer receipt would be good if they let you know their email address was wrong or something - then you could edit it and resend - but the chances of a customer doing that before you had printed off and deleted the order from Mal's is pretty low. If archive was more 'multi' then we could archive all orders at once and go back to it and re-email etc. .....
But on the plus side - really pleased that Mal is still looking at new features :-)
We have been with Mal for many years with 3 carts and love it - would be really, really stuck if he ever decided to cut and run :-(

I just tested this in my 'spare' test site and just don't see why you would want to edit an order at this point.
The record of orders we have to keep is the email we are sent when a customer places an order. If we then go and edit that order, the email we have is not correct. The cart does not send you another email if it is edited. Yes you can send your customer another email, but what about your own records?
    Am i missing something here?

editing an order has came in really handy in our business, often a customer wants to add an item or change an items color, or they realized they ordered the wrong thing...

The problem is that you do not get another email send to yourself with the changes. Yes you can re-email the customer, but we use the email originally sent from Mal's to us as the record of the order for the TAX man. We start adding things which are not on that original receipt and we have not got accurate records.

Obviously the usefulness of options and features vary from one company to another depending on what they sell and how they do their records. This is why there are options!! Something VERY useful for one person might be disastrous for another.

I guess I was just asking to see how other people keep records and to point out that this may be a problem that others may not have forseen.

If we could also re-email the order to ourselves as well as the customer then it would be more useful. Perhaps that is coming next :-)

Why not just reprint the order from Admin after you have made the change?

it is not the printed copy that is the problem - it is the email we get from Mal's directly after a customer orders.

Because we print the card details we can't keep that copy for records so have to shred them each day. Therefore the only record we have for the vat man is the electronic copy - the email.

If Mal allowed us to re-email the order to any email address, not just the customers, then that would be a fix for us.
